Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers and Leaders: Are you looking for ways to start the 2021-2022 school year energized to teach math? Or are you interested in how to best meet the needs of your students after a year of remote or blended learning?

Try one of TDG’s online synchronous seminars.

Seminar 1: Responding to Students’ Current Understanding

Grades PreK-5 and Grades 6-12
August 4, 5, 6
8:30 am –2:30 pm Pacific time (1 hour lunch break)

Working in grade band or role-specific teams, teachers and leaders receive instruction and support to design math units using district instructional materials. Participants will learn to teach math in ways responsive to individual students’ needs. At the same time teachers and leaders will reexamine grade level math content to deepen their understanding of the conceptual connections within and across math topics. Using a strengths-based approach, those attending will learn how to eradicate deficit perspectives and language when assessing students, designing instruction, and implementing lessons.

Seminar 2: How Math Teaching Matters

Grades PreK-12
August 11, 12, 13
8:30 am –2:30 pm Pacific time (1 hour lunch break)

During this online seminar, teachers and leaders will “do math” with colleagues, observe and analyze classroom video, and discuss readings as contexts for examining current and historically important research on effective mathematics classrooms.

Seminar 3: Introduction to Math Habits and Routines

Grades 3-8
August 3
8:30 am –2:30 pm Pacific time (1 hour lunch break)

Teachers and leaders spend one day learning about ways to support all students in developing mathematically productive Habits of Mind and Habits of Interaction. Participants will become familiar with several Mathematically Productive Teaching Routines to use to engage students in Math Habits.

In all online seminars, participants develop an Action Plan for implementing their seminar learning. The plan is put into practice, reflected on, and revised throughout the year.
